Support Dr Rebecca Jones

Stethoscope resting on letters of support, symbolising doctors standing together

Dr Rebecca Jones is a GP and the Green Party councillor for Blackheath in Lewisham. In April 2026 UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) wrote to the General Medical Council about her social media posts (UKLFI). On 5 July 2026 she confirmed publicly that the GMC had opened an investigation (Jewish News; The JC). No finding has been made against her.

In her own words, the GMC is "being used to censor and silence doctors who speak out against Israel's genocidal regime", and the referral is part of "a campaign against me by UK Lawyers for Israel" (Jewish News).

Our view

In HWAC's view this is a targeted, coordinated complaint campaign against a doctor's lawful political speech. The Spectator reported that the account GnasherJew helped surface her posts (The Spectator), and a campaign website now urges members of the public to email the GMC about her. Anti-Zionism can be a protected philosophical belief under the Equality Act 2010 – our rights guide sets out the sources.

Disclosure: Dr Jones named HWAC's founder, Dr Nadeem Crowe, in a public statement. Dr Crowe's own GMC case is ongoing and the outcome is pending.
